Origins and Early Years

• Founding: Established on September 1, 1920, as the Carr Creek Community Center School by Miss Olive B. Marsh and Miss Ruth E. Watson. Built to educate local youth overlooking "Singing Carr," the school was established with support from the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) and land donated by Abisha Johnson.

• Support: Funding and maintenance were provided through private contributions alongside the Knott County Board of Education.

Consolidation and Relocation

• Carr Fork Reservoir Project: Prior to the completion of the Carr Fork Reservoir in 1976, county officials consolidated several valley schools, including the original Carr Creek Elementary in Cody, Yellow Creek, and Neely.

• New Facility: The consolidated student body moved to a new Carr Creek Elementary School campus located "on the hill" above the future lake in Littcarr, Kentucky.

Modern Status

• Operations: Operating under the Knott County School District at 8596 Highway 160 S, the public school serves 416 students in grades K–8.
  

• Community Support: The campus features an attached Family Resource Youth Services Center (FRYSC) designed to support students and families.
