Drama Grant Awarded to CCES (Kathy Draughn)

During library class, Carr Creek student will perform a dramatic interpretation of "The Forgotten Ones". It is about literary books that are seldom checked out from today's libraries. Some of the main characters are Peter Pan, Rip van Winkle, Heidi and The Canterville Ghost. Students will learn how technical elements of drama such as staging, props and costumes enhance the acting process. Students with acting parts will also develop valuable performance skills such as speaking and nonverbal expression that will help them in core content classes.

Art Grant Awarded to CCES (Amy Joseph)

The art education program at Carr Creek Elementary serves roughly 206 students in grades 3-8.  Our primary focus is visual arts, although we touch base with other humanities components.  The program aims to educate students on the basic fundamentals of art, so they can build on those as their interests are engaged with visual arts.  Students take pride in their talents and beautification of the school.  We recently were awarded an ARI mini-grant.  This grant will allow our 8th grade students a chance to carry on their legacy at Carr Creek Elementary with a project they entitled, “Legacy Murals”.  We are designated two walls within the school to showcase our extremely talented 8th grade class.
